An Evening with Arundhati Roy

Arundhati Roy is a world-renowned Indian author and global justice activist. From her celebrated Booker-Prize winning novel The God of Small Things, to her prolific output of writing on topics ranging from climate change to war, the perils of free-market development, and the defense of the poor, Roy’s voice has become indispensable to millions seeking a better world. She has been awarded the Lannan Cultural Freedom Prize in 2002, the Sydney Peace Prize in 2004, and the Norman Mailer Prize for Distinguished Writing in 2011.

This talk was presented by Indian Summer Festival in Vancouver on April 1, 2014, at St Andrew’s Wesley Church in Vancouver, Canada, with support from the British Columbia Library Association, SFU’s Surrey Campus Library, The Georgia Straight, and SFU’s Vancity Office of Community Engagement.
