This part of the evening can be accessed for free by registering. But the way to really experience this evening is to sign up for the full experience which features a home-delivered multi-course menu* by award-winning Chef Tushar of Indian Pantry. The ticket also gives you exclusive access to our Zoom room afterparty with DJs Lil India x Horsepowar. So put those pyjamas away and dress up – you’ll be seen, we’ll all be dancing. Let’s send Indian Summer Festival’s 10th Anniversary edition off in style! TRIBUTARIES – curated by Jarrett Martineau and hosted by CBC’s Michelle Eliot From improvisational Indian classical rhythms and Persian and Arabic modes, to a new wave of ‘soulcapella’, funk, Bhangra, and R&B, this special concert traces sonic paths across cultures and communities. Featuring Grammy award-winning artists, rising stars, and future voices, Tributaries claims space for brown love, Black joy and self-acceptance. The concert features new music and unreleased songs from voices across the continent including: Madison McFerrin – the acclaimed singer-songwriter is one of Pitchfork’s 2020’s “artists to watch”. She follows in the footsteps of her legendary vocalist father Bobby McFerrin, and grandfather Robert McFerrin (the first African-American man to sing at NYC’s Metropolitan Opera) with an audacious ‘a capella’ set. Her compelling and distinctive sound, dubbed “soulcapella” by Questlove, brims with a transcendent joy and beauty. Pranam “Chin” Injeti is an icon in Canadian music. He is a multiple-Grammy and Juno Award-winning artist and producer, who has produced for the likes of Drake, 50 Cent, and Eminem. His own soul sonic adventures channel the funk of Prince and the soul of Stevie. For this special ISF2020 performance, Chin will debut a set of all-new, unreleased music from his forthcoming project. Sangha is an ensemble featuring the brilliant, Juno Award-winning Oud/Guitar player Gordon Grdina, acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Neelamjit Dhillon on Tabla, Hidayat Honari on Tar, and Haman Honari on Tombak and Daf. For this special ISF2020 performance, the musicians will perform remotely from four locations: Vancouver, Los Angeles, Montreal, and New York. Neela is a rising pop and R&B singer from Vancouver. Her sensuous, impassioned, and soulful sounds have led her to collaborate with renowned producers like Beatchild and Chin Injeti. Her take on pop music is about celebrating love and self-acceptance. Neela will debut all-new music from her forthcoming EP. ISF2020: 10th Anniversary Closing Party is presented with support from SoundON, Creative BC, and the Province of British Columbia.
