For the first time ever at Indian Summer, we’re handing the mic over to a diverse roster of laughmakers for a dynamite night of standup. Sharing comedic rants, sharp satire, and hilarious reflections, these comics have often found themselves to be the butt of the joke. Their fresh, fearless takes on what sometimes feels like an impossible world speaks truth to power, all while you ROFL. Presenting:
Joanne Tsung, whose unfiltered stand-up reflects her experience as a queer, first-generation immigrant settler from Taiwan. She’s featured in the new series ‘Killjoy Comedy’ on OUTtvGo.
Tin Lorica, whose deadpan observational storytelling pulls you into ridiculous yet relatable life moments. They have recently been featured on CBC Gem’s ‘The New Wave of Stand-up’.
The charming Sasha Mark has carved an impressive name for himself with his radically honest humour. Mark is Cree-Métis, and when he moved to Vancouver in 2019 from Winnipeg, he brought with him his diverse comedy showcase ‘The Sasha Ha-Ha Show’.
Using her Indigenous perspective and fashion-focused lens, Savannah Erasmus creates a fresh and endearing stand-up persona to deliver sharp truths. Erasmus has graced many stages, including Just For Laughs Vancouver.
And finally, returning from the nation’s capital, audiences will happily recognize festival favourite Kamal Pandya. Sometimes biting but always brilliant, he will bring his sarcastic yet tender sense of humour back to our stage.
