Luugigyoo Patrick Stewart

Luugigyoo Patrick Reid Stewart is principal of Patrick R. Stewart Architect near Chilliwack, British Columbia. He is also a writer, homelessness activist and Adjunct Professor at the McEwen School of Architecture at Laurentian University.

He is a co-editor of the newly released book, Our Voices: Indigeneity and Architecture (2018) and author of the upcoming books, Complex Intimacies (2018) and I Heard my Grandfather Speak in the Longhouse (2019).

He is Giskahaast of Wilp Daxaan, Git Gingolx of the Nisga’a Nation.

Luugigyoo holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia and just returned from the Venice Opening of UNCEDED, as an exhibiting architect with the Indigenous Architecture exhibition representing Canada at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale. He is Chair of the Indigenous Task Force for the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and Chair of the BC Provincial Aboriginal Homelessness Committee. He was the first Indigenous President of the Architectural Institute of BC.
