EXECUTIVE MANAGING DIRECTOR

Laura June Albert works in capacity building and cultural production, and is dedicated to capital redistribution toward equity and liberation through the arts. She is a seventh-generation white settler of British and French ancestry, now based in occupied xʷməθkwəy̓əm, Skwxwú7mesh, and Səl̓ílwətaɬ territories. 

Laura June comes to this role with a broad career background in Development, Project Design, Grant Writing, and Program Management. Passionate about responsive programs and inclusive process design, Laura June is a collaborative and encouraging leader.

Since 2016, Laura June has worked with Indian Summer Arts Society as a departmental leader spanning teams throughout the organization. She proudly worked alongside ISAS co-founder Sirish Rao on project design for a number of multi-year initiatives, including the Taiké project, the Pause Pavilion, and the Artist As Healer research residency. Her big-picture approach has had her facilitating interdepartmental accessibility planning processes, steadying the development portfolio throughout the Covid pandemic, and mentoring emerging arts administrators both in person and online.

Laura June has an MA in Contemporary Arts Studies (SFU), where she researched and wrote about white supremacy structures in western contemporary art. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and a Certificate in Sustainable Community Development both from SFU, is an alumna of Seth Godin’s altMBA, and of Aspiration Tech’s How to Raise Money program. As a fundraising consultant, she has raised close to $1M for Indigenous-led arts projects.

Alongside her arts administration practice, Laura June worked for years as a dance artist and educator, led by principles of disability justice and an embodiment-as-aesthetic approach.

Outside of work, Laura June can be found cooking up a storm or working with textiles, and is always down for time in the woods.
