Laura Byspalko is the Managing Director of Indian Summer, which she co-founded in 2011 with her partner, Sirish Rao.
She delights in strategy and numbers, expanding mindsets, connecting dots, and bringing people together.
She is a passionate creative entrepreneur who has worked in marketing and communications roles in Paris, Mexico City, New Delhi, and Vancouver, and has spent a significant portion of her adult life in India. She was the founding manager of the UK-based Tibor Jones South Asia Prize, which supported unpublished South Asian writers to complete their manuscripts. The prize led to the publishing of six novels (including a 2020 Booker-shortlisted work). She has written an expat’s guide to Bangalore (a city in which she also ran a consultancy firm), and produced events in Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata.
Laura has a Bachelor in International Business (Carleton University) and is a proud alumna of Simon Fraser University’s Masters in Publishing program.
When not gripped by festivalitis, Laura delights in balancing her child and pup on a paddleboard on the Salish Sea.
