Our 12th festival edition wraps its indoor programming with a fabulous, celebratory musical finale. Headlining the evening is the transcendental Madison McFerrin, who comes in from Brooklyn. Her critically acclaimed a cappella EP series, Finding Foundations, led Questlove to dub her sound “soul-cappella.” After making her debut at SXSW, she has mesmerized crowds on her US and European tours. This summer, she is also the curator and host of Summer Fridays at Brooklyn Bridge Park, bringing people together to “release, restore, and rejoice.” She brings that spirit to ISF with her powerful one-woman show. This is her first-ever Vancouver appearance!
Opening for Madison (and co-curator of this night of music) is long-time festival favourite Ruby Singh with his kraKIN project, a ‘More-Than-Human Hip Hop Collaboration’ featuring birds, frogs, and the marine soundscapes of Desolation Sound.
The night closes out with a proper dance party featuring the one and only DJ Kookum joining forces with ISF’s favourite DJ LIL India. All of this is enhanced by the visual sorcery of the digital magicians at the Chimerik Collective. This will be a party to be at, and to remember!
