location Performance Works, Granville Island
A dedicated gathering for artists, curators and cultural producers who self-identify as South Asian and/or Black, invited to gather and share points of connection and solidarity. This facilitated dialogue aims to create space for meaningful relationship building and thoughtful discussion.
This event provides a unique industry space away from the white gaze, where participants can explore critical questions that influence our cultural landscapes:
• How can artistic and cultural programming actively challenge the dominant narrative?
• What are the possibilities for our work within ‘mainstream’ art spaces versus creating our own distinct spaces?
• What supports do our communities need to build stronger connections and solidarity with each other?
This event will conclude with a networking opportunity for attendees to continue their conversations, deepen relationships, and collaboratively envision the future of our cultural spheres.
Light lunch will be provided.
