ISF: Annual Festival

Indian Summer Festival is an annual arts festival produced by Indian Summer Arts Society, where we present acclaimed international and local artists, connecting Vancouver to itself and the world. Indian Summer Festival offers audiences multi-arts experiences of exceptional caliber, curating through a South Asian lens and centering the exciting work of culturally diverse artists. Programming across literature, music, visual arts and the performing arts, we connect rich and complex pasts with the emerging future. Pre-COVID this was a 10-day long festival comprised of events where the community could gather in person. We miss that and we hope to be able to gather in person in the not too distant future but for 2021 we have a hybrid virtual festival planned. We had to pivot quickly last year due to the pandemic to a virtual/online festival. This year we have designed a virtual festival that includes hybrid features and immersive elements to bridge the gap in human connection between ISF pre-2020 and ISF 2020 to bring you ISF2021, a festival that will be exciting, interactive, and memorable, and will seek to invoke the five senses along the way.

ISF+ : Year-Round Events & Experiences

At Indian Summer Arts Society our vision is for an inclusive, diverse, and culturally rich society that values the transformative power of the arts. To help us realize this we believe that we need to do more to create a platform for artists beyond the annual Indian Summer Festival, to keep the arts and artists in our community sustainable. We are continually growing our network of partnerships and collaborations to provide more opportunities for artists to showcase their work to our audiences and provide our audiences with arts experiences beyond the Indian Summer Festival. Building a society that is culturally rich takes time, and we felt that simply having a festival once a year was not enough, and we want to provoke dialogue and debate year-round. We want to encourage and engage in storytelling beyond the annual programming of our Indian Summer Festival to keep the community growing, thriving, learning year-round. ISF+ is about keeping the arts alive year-round, it’s about sustainable futures for artists and about evergreen and evergrowing curiosity. This idea of sustainability is what led us to create our Monthly Mithai program – Learn more here
