Paromita (Mita) Naidu
After an early career in academia, fashion and non profit leadership- Mita now works in communications, diversity and equity strategies, fundraising, community engagement, and advocacy.
Considered a community educator, she currently sits on several boards and committees including Coastal Jazz and Blues Society, Vancouver International Children’s Festival, Deltassist, and is a committee member in the South Asian Advisory Council for Canadian Cancer Society.
Published in academic journals, as well as in mainstream media- her voice is sought by those looking for insight into Canadian social issues. She is the recipient of two BC Arts Council grants, and was named one of “12 Remarkable Women in the Arts in Vancouver” by the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Parks Board.
She was also appointed by Heritage BC & the Royal BC Museum, as a consultant on the South Asian Canadian Historic Places Project. As an Indian classical dancer, she performed in the 2010 Winter Olympics. She is a single mother of two children (12 & 16) and resides in North Delta.
