Dr. Rashmi Chadha
Dr. Rashmi Chadha is a mother, physician, and settler of colour who is trying to be a healthy planetarian in as many ways as she can. In her professional life she provides addiction medicine care at Vancouver General Hospital and is a Clinical Associate Professor in UBC’s Department of Family Practice.
Dr. Chadha recognized that the Canadian physician voice was severely lacking in the climate and ecological crisis. Therefore, in 2020 she cofounded Doctors for Planetary Health – West Coast, and was one of the key organizers of their 2021 Code Red climate rally for health professionals at the BC legislature. In 2022 she instigated a new Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) medical staff committee on planetary health, and later this year she will take on a new planetary health leadership role at VCH, looking to cultivate physician engagement in health care sustainability.
Dr. Chadha tries to make sure that every step she takes physically and psychologically is mindful of her interconnection within the great ecosystem web of life.
