Amjad Ali Khan, Sharon Isbin, Amaan Ali Bangash & Ayaan Ali Bangash

…World masters of sarod and guitar

Amjad Ali Khan, Sharon Isbin, Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash are taking the stage at Indian Summer Festival with the world premiere of Strings for Peace, an eloquent and impassioned call for harmony – in music, in religions, in cultures, and in the world.

On July 12, you’ll have the rare opportunity to see the world masters of sarod and guitar together with three-time Grammy Award-winning classical guitarist at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts.

Family history

Amjad Ali Khan’s ancestors developed and shaped the beautiful nineteen stringed instrument, and his richly talented sons Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash are the 7th generation of the family to play it.

Amjad Ali Khan’s awards

Amjad’s first award was received in 1970 when he won the UNESCO Award. Since then, he has received many other awards, including Gandhi UNESCO Medal in Paris for his composition ‘Bapukauns’, ‘Commander of the Order of Arts and letters’ by the French Government, and BBC Magazine voted his CD ‘Bhairav’ to be among the best 50 classical albums in the world.

Amaan Ali Bangash

Amaan’s musical style is marked by its precision in tunefulness, bold and resonant strokes, along with tradition and continuity of Indian classical music. Amaan’s performances have evoked creditable applause.

Ayaan Ali Bangash

Ayaan has won the hearts of music lovers both in India and abroad. Along with his many solo classical albums, Ayaan has crossed the bridge between Indian music and a variety of genres with his electronica and lounge albums like ‘Reincarnation,’ ‘Truth,’ ‘Mystic Dunes,’ ‘Passion’ and ‘Dreamz.’

Sharon Isbin

Three-time Grammy award-winner Sharon Isbin has been hailed as “the pre-eminent guitarist of our time.” She has been a recipient of Guitar Player magazine’s Best Classical Guitarist award and the first guitarist ever to win the Munich Competition. Her catalog ranges from Baroque, Spanish/Latin and 20th Century to crossover and jazz-fusion.

We can’t wait to share the amazing experience of having these four inspiring artists together on Indian Summer Festival’s stage.
