Guntaj Deep Singh

Born and raised in Panjab, India, Guntaj Deep Singh is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist working with photography, film, mixed media and language. He nourishes his imagination through his passion for fusing art and poetry. Living in Vancouver since 2017, he has been devotedly contributing to the arts and culture of local queer and South Asian communities.

He has painted a mural in the Punjabi Market, hosted a Punjabi Music Radio Show and cultural events, and also occasionally writes for magazines. He has worked as a Punjabi translator for Apple Music and Vancouver Art Gallery as well.

He is driven by the need for change, a shift in how we live in the current time and how we look at the possibilities of the future. A recurring theme in his work is this desire to make traditionalism meet modernism.

His work has been displayed at local & international art festivals, galleries and spaces including 5X, Salt Spring National Art Prize and Sikh Heritage Festival among a few others. His photographic series 'Openly|ਸ਼ਰੇਆਮ ' which exhibited at the Salt Spring National Art Prize exhibition 2023-24 is now available as a photo-poetry book.
